Why ads?
The Real Economy is free to read, with no paywall and no account required. A small, limited amount of advertising helps cover the real costs of running it.
What advertising funds
Running a data-driven site like this one isn't free. Advertising revenue goes toward:
- Hosting the website and its database
- Automated data processing and ingestion from official sources
- Ongoing maintenance as source formats and APIs change
- Continued development of new indicators, pages and charts
What advertisers do not get
Advertisers have no influence over which indicators we publish, how we calculate them, what our charts show, or any written analysis on this site. Nobody previews or approves editorial content in exchange for buying an ad. If an advertiser's business happens to relate to a topic we cover (fuel, housing, banking), that has no bearing on what the data shows or how we describe it.
Our approach to ad placement
We keep advertising deliberately light: a small number of clearly labelled slots, never disguised as content, and never placed inside a chart or data table. If ad load ever starts to get in the way of reading the data, that's a bug, not a feature - tell us.
What an ad slot looks like
Always labelled "Advertisement", always visually distinct from site content.
