Privacy policy

Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare. Like almost any web host, Cloudflare handles standard request information - your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser type and the time - to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views in aggregate, without cookies or fingerprinting, to show which pages get read. It isn't used for advertising or to build a profile of any individual visitor.

Calculators. Anything you type into a calculator on this site, such as your pay on the Am I better off? page, is worked out in your own browser. It is never sent to or stored by this site.

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites. Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits here and elsewhere on the internet.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalised ads at aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings; the site works fully without them.

Ads never affect which data is shown or how it's presented. Why this site has ads.

If you email info@therealeconomy.co.nz, your address and message are used only to reply to you. They aren't shared with anyone or added to any mailing list.

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see, or correct, personal information held about you. Because this site doesn't store personal information, there's usually nothing held - but you can ask at info@therealeconomy.co.nz. If you're not happy with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
